HI.. Been sometime since I have updated...I have been at the NSA command for 9 months now...The Car is doin good I have around 44,000+ miles on the car now. I have taken the E-5 test did not advance will take again in Sept '07. I am now a daily duty person at Enterprise Hall.. I have started a 2nd job at a local restaurant in downtown Norfolk, VA named Club Soda as Id checker and dishwasher and whatever help they need me for. Memorial Day weekend I spent the whole 4 days at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront it was nice time there. well that is it until next time America

CAR PURCHASE

I have been at my new command now for 4 months now, still watchstander at Enterprise Hall, and will be taking the March 8th E-5 exam to try and make Petty Officer 2nd class...Also on January 10, 2007 I purchased a used 2004 Chevy Malibu blue in color from Calvary Cars in Norfolk, VA which had at time of purchase 40,668 miles...for 10,000.00 It is a great car and glad to finally be driving again after much walking and taking buses and taxis got old...Well this is all i have for now update later when have more info,,,. :)

NEW COMMAND

It has been a while since last updating this page...A lot has gone on since Jan we left the dry dock on 1st week of August and went back pierside..Also I transferred from USS HARRY S TRUMAN CVN-75 after 4 yrs onboard on Aug. 16, 2006 and went home on transfer leave for 3 weeks. I spent 8 months working in S-2 galley onboard the barge feeding apprx. 150 people..After my transfer leave I reported 11 Sept 2006 to Naval Support Activity Norfolk, Norfolk, VA. I now work for regional support in Sewells Point Region Combined bachelor Housing on Naval Station Norfolk. I work in Enterprise Hall on Naval Station Base as Quaterdeck Watch and that is all i do still have the 5 and 2 schedule. I am on shore duty for 3 yrs.. I have extended until 2008 which is end of obligated service. I did not reenlist due to problems on Truman. I will most likely take E-5 advancement Exam in March.. Well that is all for now.

NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD

On Jan 9, 2006 USS HARRY S TRUMAN CVN-75 left Naval Station Norfolk bound for Norfolk Naval Shipyard traveled up the Elizabeth River and went Pierside and moored up from Port side which has never been done on a Carrier. Then on 10 Jan 2006 we entered Dry Dock #8 in Norfolk Naval Shipyard and we will be ther until August I believe. The Commanding Officer is calling the DPIA '06 a Maintenance Deployment..

In other news I found out that i made advancement to E-4 TO CS3 which is Culinary Specailist 3rd Class Petty Officer US NAVY. I am now in Supply Department S-2 division food service division.

DEPERM

On November 14-18 we traveled up river on the Elizabeth to the Deperming station and wrapped hundreds of cables around the ship to de-magnitize. It was a lot of work 12 hr days starting at 5:45a till 5p. We got the job done in record time as always.

We ended our surge ready capability on Dec 12 and are now in process of getting ready to go the Dry Dock at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA on Jan 9. I will be living on a floating barge due to the ship being un inhabitable.

We are currently on Holiday Standown period until Jan 5. As i am writing this i am back home in Mississippi on Christmas leave.

Will update from the shipyards.

AMMO OFFLOAD.

On board USS HST CVN-75 we recently concluded our last underway period with a AMMO Offload with the USNS ARTIC (T-AOE 8) and also 2 other Carriers USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER CVN-69 & USS ENTERPRISE CVN-65 it was a successfull offload with only two day period in which we offloaded 1,800 tons of ammol. It was necessary to come back with no ammo before goin to yard period in Jan. We also on Sun, Nov 6, 2005 did something never been accomplished before us the Truman and Enterprise the two carriers came parallel with one another at 300 yards and truman spelled "GO NAVY" and Ike spelled "BEAT ARMY" and took photos to send around the world and to Naval Academy.

We will now head to DEPERM on 14-18 Nov for demagnitizing the ship.

SUSTAINED TRAINING COMPLETE

We have recently completed our sustained training with Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3) on 20 Oct 2005. We now have one last underway coming up Nov 2-7 or the 6th, to offload AMMO in preps for upcoming shipyard DPIA '06. After that we go across the bay with only essential personnel and half the crew for DEPERM to De-Magnitize the ship. Nov 14-18 2005. After this our next short trip will be In Jan when we head up the Elizabeth River to Norfolk Naval Shipyards (NNSY) in Portsmouth, VA for DPIA '06 for Drydocking. We are still the surge ready carrier under Fleet Response Plan (FRP) until Mid-December.

I have put in leave request for the Christmas holiday leave for 16-27 Dec. to go home to Mississippi for Christmas. I will be in Norfolk for Thanksgiving and New Years with no plans as of yet, more to follow at a later date.

JOINT TASK FORCE KATRINA, RELIEF EFFORTS

Myself and the USS HARRY S TRUMAN CVN-75 recently were surged out to the Gulf Of Mexico on 1 Sept 2005 with less than 24 hrs notice we went underway at 4:30p on that thurs afternoon. We where sent there to help with Relief Efforts in the New Orleans Area we carried food and water along with other supplies. We also had helicopters flying on and off for re-fueling. We where anchored 40 miles SE of New Orleans. We where there around a week before we where cleared to leave. It was a most helpful thing we also had teams that went ashore to help out also. We returned to homeport of Norfolk, VA on Frid 23 Sept 2005 after being gone for 3 weeks. We will once again be underway on 12 Oct for regular training with the full Air Wing 3 aboard. That is all I have for now and will update at a later time. :)

FRIENDS AND FAMILY DAY CRUISE 2005

On August 6, 2005 USS HARRY S TRUMAN CVN-75 AND CARRIER AIR WING 3 (CVW 3) held our annual Friends and Family Day Cruise onboard Truman for a One cruise in the Atlantic 30 miles from Norfolk, VA. It was a good day out beautiful weather except being very hot....We had a Air show by Air Wing 3 team also .50 cal shoots displays and activities for the kids with a southern Rock and Country Band. We had around 8,000 people onboard we left port at 7:30a and returned at 6:30p.

My two guests weren't able to make it but i also worked most of the day up on the Focsle doin Sea and Anchor detail. My guest's took me out to eat at a Tappa Restaurant in Norfolk called Bardo.. it was really nice had a great supper and drinks.

Hi from Robert, this is my very first blog on the sight hope you enjoy reading.
I have done many travels with the US NAVY onboard USS HARRY S TRUMAN CVN-75 Aircraft Carrier homeport Norfolk, VA, USA. Recently returned from 6 month deployment to Persian Gulf..I have had the opportunity to travel to France, Italy, UK- London, Edinburgh, Scotland, Dubai, U.A.E, Manama, Bahrain, Greece....As of now just doin travels in Atlantic ocean on the East Coast, US.
